What is MyoReformation?

MyoReformation is a hands-on, soft tissue technique that separates muscles and ligaments and opens up the joints, working with the body's own ability to heal itself through improved blood flow and lymphatic drainage.

How is it different from physiotherapy, chiropractic care, or deep tissue massage?

Physiotherapy, chiropractic care and deep tissue massage typically focus on one area, usually the site of injury. MyoReformation works on a different principle: tension is treated as the root cause, not the symptom. Where the body works vertically under normal posture and movement, MyoReformation works horizontally, drawing muscle away from its attachments so it can reset longer. This creates a whole-body effect that increases circulation and lymphatic flow throughout the system, not just the treated area, and shifts the nervous system from a tense state into a calmer one. It also brings together principles from three disciplines in a single session: the Bowen Technique (a gentle, well-documented soft tissue approach recognised by many medical insurers), vasculo-muscular harmonisation (down-regulating the nervous system so the body can release its guarded, protective state), and lymphatic drainage (encouraging fluid movement and stimulating lymph nodes, alongside acupressure point work). MyoReformation is a newer method practised by very few people worldwide, and there is currently no independent clinical research specific to it, though the Bowen Technique that underpins it does have an established evidence base.

What conditions do you treat?

MyoReformation can help with a wide range of conditions, including herniated discs, sciatica, chronic neck pain, sports injuries, post-surgery recovery, and general ongoing body maintenance rather than just active injury. It is not a substitute for medical treatment. See who this is suitable for below.

How many sessions will I need?

This depends on how long the condition has been present. Under 1 year: typically 3 to 6 sessions. 1 to 5 years: typically 6 to 12 sessions. 5 years or more: typically 15 to 30 sessions. New clients begin with 3 sessions within 14 days to trigger muscle memory, and this initial block is the same for everyone. After that, the fourth session is scheduled two weeks later, and the frequency is then adjusted based on how well the body is holding, anywhere from every 7 to 21 days. Once the body reaches a stable baseline, most clients only need maintenance sessions 3 to 4 times a year.

Is it painful? What does a session feel like?

The treatment reaches into areas where tension and pain already exist, so there can be genuine discomfort during a session. This is a normal, expected part of the process, not a sign that anything is wrong. It is not painful afterwards. You may feel some tenderness from the muscle release, but it fades quickly. Some people experience a brief flare-up, or regression before progression, which resolves as the body adapts. It is very rare for someone to leave a session still in the same pain they arrived with.

How long is a session, and how often should I come?

A session typically runs 45 minutes to just over an hour. Frequency is not fixed and depends on how the body responds. If a session produces good muscle release, the next one can be spaced 3 to 4 weeks out. If the body feels rigid, sessions are scheduled closer together, weekly or fortnightly, though never closer than 7 days apart except during the initial 3-session block.

Who is this suitable for?

MyoReformation is suitable for almost everyone, as it activates multiple systems in the body at once. The main exception is clients currently under active medical supervision or treatment for a serious condition. In these cases we recommend waiting until that treatment is complete before starting, and we are always happy to discuss individual circumstances directly.

Do you work with clients remotely, or only in person?

MyoReformation itself is strictly in person, as it is a hands-on technique. A virtual health-coaching service, focused on the lifestyle and stress factors that contribute to recurring pain, is currently in development.

What does the free Back Pain Action Plan involve?

It is a short questionnaire about your pain history, followed by a personalised video where Jono explains what is likely driving your pain and offers some initial guidance. It is designed to help you understand your pain before deciding on next steps, including a follow-up conversation if you would like one.

How do I prepare for my first session, and what should I expect afterward?

No special preparation is needed, just come with an open mind and without expectations based on someone else's experience, as everyone's pain and response is different. You will be treated in your underwear, as skin contact is needed for the technique. Afterward it is common to feel lightheaded, energised or euphoric due to the increase in circulation and lymphatic activity, and you may feel thirsty. Some people sleep better that night, and occasionally people feel a little more restless before it settles.
